Common questions

What clinic owners ask us most.

We'll answers about how we work, what makes our builds different, and whether we're the right fit for your practice.

Website FAQ

01Is this just a website, or is there more to it?

It's a website built with everything a healthcare clinic actually needs to be found and chosen online. Every build includes a fully optimized Google Business Profile, a proper SEO foundation (schema markup, technical setup, local site structure), booking integration, and a review widget. These aren't add-ons. They're the standard.

We also offer ongoing marketing services such as paid ads management and local SEO for select clients who we feel are the right fit.

02What does "conversion-optimised" actually mean for a clinic website?

It means every page is designed around one question: does this make a visitor more or less likely to book? That influences layout, headline choices, where booking buttons appear (above the fold, in persistent navigation, and contextually on each service page), how trust signals are positioned, and what the mobile experience looks like since over 70% of your patients find you on a phone.

The average healthcare website converts around 1-2% of visitors into enquiries. A properly structured clinic site with clear booking CTAs and trust signals consistently converts at 3-5%. On 500 monthly visitors, that difference is 17 extra patient inquiries every month from the same traffic.

03Do you write the copy, or do I need to provide content?

We write all the copy together with you. You complete a structured brief typically around an hour of your time at your own pace which covers your services, team, practice philosophy, and patient focus. From that, we write everything: headlines, service descriptions, provider bios, trust copy, and all calls-to-action.

All copy is written to advertising standards for regulated health professionals. No outcome guarantees, no superlative claims, no language that would create a regulatory problem. You review and approve before anything goes live.

If you have existing copy you'd like us to use, that's fine too. We can work from your existing content, improve it, and ensure it's compliant.

04Can you redesign my existing website instead of starting from scratch?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If your existing site has a solid technical foundation and the main issues are copy, layout, and conversion structure, we can work with what you have. If it has structural problems that would compromise the SEO and performance foundation such as slow load times, page builder issues, architecture not built for local search, a rebuild is usually the more cost-effective path.

We give you that assessment in your first conversation, before any proposal or commitment.

05I'm launching and need a logo and brand identity as well as a website. Do you handle all of that together?

Yes and doing it together is actually the better approach. When brand and website are built separately by different people at different times, there's almost always a disconnect in how things look and feel. When we build both, your logo, colour palette, typography, and website are designed as one cohesive system from the start.

06How is this different from just hiring a freelance web designer and a seperate SEO company? Wouldn't that be cheaper?

It might be cheaper upfront — and it's worth being honest about that. But there are three things a fragmented approach doesn't give you.

Integration: A freelance designer builds a site that looks good. A separate SEO company then tries to work with a site that wasn't built for SEO in the first place — wrong URL structure, no schema markup, no local landing page architecture. They spend your budget fixing what should have been built correctly from the start.

Healthcare Knowledge: Most freelance designers and general SEO agencies have no understanding of advertising compliance, how patients search for healthcare, or what builds trust specifically in a clinical context. You'll spend significant time educating them — or worse, you won't, and the output won't reflect the nuances of your profession.

Accountability: When something isn't working, who's responsible? The designer says it's an SEO problem. The SEO company says the website isn't converting. With HealthOne, there's one number to call and one team accountable for the whole patient acquisition outcome — not two vendors pointing at each other.

07Which booking systems do you intergrate with?

We integrate with Jane App, Cliniko, Dentrix, Power Diary, OSCAR, Acuity, RecallMax and most major healthcare booking systems. We confirm compatibility for your specific system before kickoff. If your platform isn't listed, ask us and we'll check before you commit to anything.

08How long will it take to design and launch my healthcare website?

Most of our healthcare websites are completed within 30 days of us receiving all the required content from you. Custom builds can have longer timelines and we'll clearly discuss that with you during our consultation.

09What if I'm not happy with the final result?

The build process is designed to prevent this rather than resolve it after the fact. You approve the copy before design begins, and you review the complete site and provide consolidated feedback before it goes live. One structured round of feedback is built into the process and we implement those changes, then launch.

If something genuinely isn't right after your feedback has been incorporated, we talk it through. We've never had a client end up with a site they were unhappy with partly because the brief and review process catches issues early, and partly because we're designing for your patients and your practice, not our own aesthetic preferences. The site has to work for you to work at all.

Hosting & Support FAQ

01Why do I need to keep paying monthly once my site is built?

The monthly fee covers hosting, security, and support and not marketing. Specifically: managed WordPress hosting, your SSL certificate maintained and auto-renewed, daily backups with 30-day retention, security monitoring and malware scanning, WordPress core and plugin updates applied and tested, and unlimited minor content updates such as new staff members, changed hours, updated services. You just send an email and we handle it, typically within 48 hours.

A website is a live piece of infrastructure, not a brochure you print once. Without active maintenance, plugins create security vulnerabilities, SSL certificates lapse (browsers show patients a warning screen), and backups don't exist when you need them. The monthly fee is infrastructure and you will be paying it regardless of where you host your website.

02Do I own my website?

Yes completely. The website, all its content, and your domain belong to your clinic. If you ever move to a different provider, we transfer everything to you cleanly. The things that stop if you cancel hosting are the managed services. The asset itself is always yours.

03Can I move my website to a different host?

Yes. We support a clean migration to a host of your choice, including file transfer, database export, and DNS guidance, for a one-time migration fee. Most clients choose to stay on our hosting because the included security monitoring, automatic updates, and unlimited content update requests represent real ongoing value but the option is always yours.

04What counts as a "minor content update"?

Minor updates (included): Updated hours, a new staff member added, a changed phone number, a service name updated, a new photo uploaded, a testimonial added, or a small text correction anywhere on the site.

Not minor (scoped separately): Building a new service page from scratch, adding a new section with new copy, redesigning a page layout, or adding a new feature or integration. We'll tell you clearly which category something falls into before doing any work.

05Is there a minimum hosting commitment?

No minimum term on hosting — it's month-to-month from the day your site goes live, with 30 days' notice to cancel. The marketing add-ons (Local SEO and Paid Ads, if you choose to add them) have a 6-month minimum, because meaningful results require time to appear and a shorter commitment wouldn't give either party a fair chance. After 6 months, those are also month-to-month with 30 days' notice.

GBP & SEO Foundation FAQ

01What does Google Business Profile optimisation include?

We claim and verify your GBP (or take it over if you have one), then complete the full setup: correct primary and secondary categories for your specialty, all services listed with descriptions, hours and contact details verified, a proper business description written for local search, photos uploaded, Q&A seeded with common patient questions, and your first Google Posts published.

Most GBPs we encounter are partially completed with wrong categories, no photos, no posts in months. A properly configured GBP directly affects your Maps Pack ranking for local searches and is often the first impression patients form before visiting your site.

02What's included in the SEO foundation and what isn't?

Included: MedicalBusiness, Physician, and LocalBusiness schema markup, title tags and meta descriptions for every page, proper URL structure, canonical tags, sitemap and robots.txt configuration, Core Web Vitals optimised build (typically scoring 90–100 on PageSpeed), image compression and alt text, and a local site architecture built for the searches patients in your city actually use.

Not included: Ongoing ranking campaigns, city and service landing page expansion beyond the initial build, monthly keyword reporting, competitor monitoring, or backlink building. Those are what the Local SEO add-on covers, available on request once your site is live.

03Will I rank on Google just from the foundation build?

For searches on your clinic name, almost certainly yes within days of launch. For local specialty searches such as "physiotherapist Vancouver" or "dentist near me", it will depend on your market and competition. In less competitive markets, a properly built site with a fully optimized GBP can appear in the Maps Pack within 30-90 days. In highly competitive urban markets, organic ranking typically requires ongoing SEO work on top of the foundation.

We'll give you an assessment of your specific market in your first conversation with a realistic picture of what the foundation alone can achieve, and what would require ongoing work.

04What happens to the GBP and SEO foundation if I stop hosting with HealthOne?

The GBP stays yours as it's linked to your Google account, not ours. All the optimization we did remains in place. The SEO foundation is built into the site itself and moves with the site if you migrate hosting. None of the foundation work disappears if you change providers. The things that stop if you cancel hosting are the managed services like updates, security monitoring, support, and content edits.

Marketing Add-ons FAQ

01Do I have to sign up for ongoing SEO or ads?

No you certainly don't. The website build with GBP and SEO foundation is a complete, standalone product. Many of our clients build their site, host it with us, and are genuinely happy leaving it there without any ongoing marketing layer. Local SEO and Paid Ads are available for clinics where those services are a genuine fit and we're selective about taking them on. If you ask about them, we'll let you know if we feel they'll make a difference for your practice.

02When does adding Local SEO actually make sense?

When your market is competitive enough that the foundation alone won't move rankings meaningfully, and you have the budget and patience to invest in organic growth over a 6–12 month period. Active SEO compounds over time and it tends to produce slow early results and significant later ones. If you need patients in the next 30 days, SEO is not the right tool. If you're building for sustained growth over a year, it's one of the best investments a clinic can make.

03What happens to my website if I add Local SEO and then decide to stop?

Your website stays live and unchanged with hosting and support continuing as normal. The SEO work stops, which means rankings may plateau and eventually drift depending on your market. Any city or service landing pages added during the SEO engagement remain on your site. There's no penalty for stopping and no retroactive changes. We ask for 30 days' notice after the initial 6-month minimum.

04Can I add Paid Ads without Local SEO?

Yes they're completely independent. Paid ads produce immediate visibility while SEO compounds over months. Some clinics use ads as a bridge while organic rankings build; others run ads indefinitely because the economics work well enough; others use neither. We discuss what makes sense for your specific situation rather than defaulting to a standard recommendation.

05Are your Google Ads campaigns compliant?

Yes. All ad copy we write is written with your specific regulatory college's guidelines in mind. There are no guaranteed outcome claims, no "best" or "#1" superlatives, no language your regulatory college would flag. This isn't a review step we add after the fact; it's how we write, because we only work with healthcare clinics and it's the only acceptable standard.
